In late June this year, JMIC co-organized an event with the Embassy of Indonesia in Oslo under the titleĀ ‘The Role of Civil Societies in Facing Radicalism in Indonesia’, with two invited scholars of Islam in Indonesia, Dr. Marsudi Syuhud and Dr. Abdul Muki.

Their speeches were followed by a panel discussion, where Prof. Elisabeth Eide took part. Other participants also joined the conversation, which centred on how to prevent undemocratic extremist elements from gaining ground. Rector Curt Rice, OsloMet, opened the seminar.

This week, JMIC met with representatives from the Indonesian embassy again, including ambassador Todung Mulya Lubis, to discuss further co-operation within the field of higher education.
