Rewarding training of trainees on a pedagogical tool

Last week Elsebeth Frey (JMIC and OsloMet) did a workshop in Tunis, a training of trainees regarding press freedom and a pedagogical tool called the Rig on press freedom.
Three professors from University of Constantine 3, Algeria, and three professors from the Tunisian journalism education IPSI (Institute of Press and Information Sciences) at University of Manouba, participated in the workshop at Hotel Belvédère Fourati.
The participants said that the workshop was very interesting, fruitful and interactive, and they were pleased to learn a new way of teaching journalism. One of them expressed that, «I think the Rig on press freedom is a good way to create interaction between a professor and students through applications that are assigned for the students to do, which is in the heart of the journalism field». Both participants from Constantine and Tunis hope to collaborate with Elsebeth Frey at their home universities with their students participating.
In addition to discussions, theoretical introductions, and group work, the participants visited the journalists’ union, Syndicat National des Journalists Tunisians (SNJT). Furthermore, Reidun Andersen, Norwegian Vice Consul in Tunisia, spent some hours participating in the workshop. As did Saloua Ghazouani Oueslati, Regional Director of ARTICLE 19 MENA, the NGO that collaborated with JMIC in arranging the workshop.
